PS3 ’soon’ getting support for 3D Movies via Firmware Update

According to Play3-live.com, in an interview they had with CEO & President of TDVision Systems, they are in the process of delivering support for Blu-ray and DVD discs encoded with TDVCodec on the PS3 via a firmware update to be released soon in 2008. The discs encoded will work on systems that dont support 3D too, only it will playback in 2D. You will also need a TV that supports 3D which could cost you a bit of money.

I’m all for 3d. Bring it on

  2. Are 3D TV’s even out yet? I certainly haven’t heard of them and to be honest I’m not that bothred. We’ve only just recently payed out for HDTV’s…they’re expensive enough!

I own a samsung dlp rp tv that displays 3d ( w/ the help of an encodoer box and glasses and no, not the red/blue kind, the kind @ disneyworld , imax, etc…)

  4. Chris Paul Says:

that would suck because I have to buy another TV again which has 3d..

  5. The glasses that work with the new 3D tvs are not the same as imax or disneyland, but they do appear similar. These glasses work by alternating left and right views by blacking out each eye very quickly in sync with the tv. You can do this already with a regular crt tv or PC monitor and the glasses. They are just trying to create a new standardized version that will work with everything.
