PS3 Keypad Coming in December

Written by Chris Rah Osiris chrisrahosiris-48
I'll need this for Home

This will be a welcome accessory for Home

The chatpad/keypad was announced with some mixed reviews. The major issue with the keypad was the price. I won’t lie and say that I love dishing out $50, but I actually am not. So…I can’t gripe about that. I was able to sneak in and get it for $40 during one of Amazon’s sales. (I love you Amazon). Just in case you were wondering when this fine accessory will be available at your fine, local retailer, it will be in the first week of December. That means I get my baby when I get back from Thanksgiving break. I love the holidays. ;)

Are you getting a keypad?

    I like the way it looks, but how’s it going to feel? My only hesitation is that it will interfere with the L1&R1 buttons.

    I think if they would have placed it between palm handles it would have been easier to use, having to go over the top of the D-pads looks to be a problem for hitting keys. And at the $49.99 price tag it is a little much…

    Considering that a regular PS3 controller retails for nearly $55 dollars, this is actually a good deal. You’re getting a regular controller with an added communication feature for less than a basic controller.

    I like the price.

    @nuclearware:
    How sure are you about that? I seriously doubt a controller is included with the keypad. 55 bucks for a controller and keypad would be too good to be true… so it’s probably not. I’m fairly certain the $55 price tag is for the keypad alone. Sorry, dude.

  5. Perhaps another sign that the Home Open Beta is coming next month for all us chumps that didn’t get an invite?
    And where is the PSP Keypad?

    @OldBloodAndGuts:
    If you look closely at the picture, you can see that the keypad is connected to the controller itself. It doesn’t appear to be something that you can attach and unattach. So I stick with my original comment of it being a good deal unless some other evidence is presented that proves me wrong. lol

    There are pictures on the offical website that show it on its own as a seperate keypad. It masks over the center buttons and wraps around the top. The accessory comes seperate of the controller. 55 Bucks isn’t harsh.

    I finally stand corrected! lol

  9. I have a USB Keyboard and so I just use that.

    I know some people don’t like that as “there is no where to put the keyboard” but I just lay it on the bed, on the floor and pick it up when I’m typing etc.
    It all works out :)

    So no, I won’t be getting this.
    No need and it indeed is a bit overpriced in my view.

    I’d like to get it, some times I have some long messages to write and Home then LBP, but the price is a bit high, however, quality is not cheap (look at the headset), so I think I’ll buy it, but not in the release week.
