A PlayStation LifeStyle Milestone

2000000

Less than eleven months after this website was created, the combined efforts of our staff and contributors, readers and commenters have caused us to reach a rather significant point.

From a tiny and humble blog hosted on wordpress arose the site you see before you now that has bloomed from two authors to a staff of nine. Our feature list has grown, our reader base has expanded, and in light of this we have recently initiated the start of a complete site redesign by a well-known industry professional.

From the mind of a union carpenter came PlayStation LifeStyle, and now here, he and the rest of us stand before you 2,000,000 views later.

As managing editor, I’d like to thank all those who read our humble, non-sensationalist gaming site, and I wish to see you all stay with us as we go through big changes and grow into a mature, well-received, trusted and reliable entity.

Here are some words from each of the staff, starting with the site owner and creator, Anthony Severino:

- “Thank you. Without our readers we would be nothing at all. Thank you for your enduring support, thank you for all of your comments and feedback, thank you for making PlayStationLifeStyle a thriving community for PlayStation enthusiasts and fanboys alike. This has been one hell of a ride, bumpy at times, but always moving toward our ultimate goal of giving you all a place where you can read, discuss, and enjoy all things PlayStation. The future looks bright for PSLS, and I want to take the time to let you all know that we will be relaunching PlayStation LifeStyle in the coming weeks. We will be sporting a new look, and new features, which will in turn bring new experiences, and opportunities for both the readers, and our staff. We look forward to continuing to be your choice for PlayStation News, Reviews, Trophy Guides, and more! We are excited about the relaunch, and we sure hope you are too. Stay tuned!

PlayStation isn’t just a hobby, it’s a lifestyle.”

Azariah Ellington II

- “When PSLS first began, we had no idea how far it would come in such a short amount of time. We were average gamers and we wanted to bring everyone PlayStation news in an unique way. If it were not for you, the readers, we would not be here. You all have made PSLS what it is. Your thoughts, opinions, and patronage means the world to us. The amount of pride and joy I get when someone comments on the quality of our site and what they enjoy about it is without compare. I promise you it is comparable to the first time I beat Mike Tyson in Mike Tyson Punch Out. 2 million views is a huge accomplishment. It is truly an accomplishment that is due to you all. We are here for you. We look forward to what we will be doing in the future with all of you. I am thankful for the opportunity to do this. It is really a dream come true. Thank you everyone.”

Joseph Peterson

- “I am honored to be part of such a great site and work with a great group of people. We all continue to keep things laid back and bring a different perspective of gaming that most sites do not. I feel that is what has separated us from the bunch. Our site would be nothing without our great and loyal readers. Thank you so much for using us for your info/discussions about videogames.”

Richard Allen

- “I was a long time reader of PSLS and I had wanted to contribute for sometime. This site really picks up where I left off with The Console Wars blog I used to help run. I am proud to be a part of a team with members that are highly dedicated to each of their features. Along with a high caliber of news, there are ample guides and reviews. Of course all of this activity is thanks to you, the readers. As long as you guys keep supporting the site, we will keep dishing out the goods.”

StalkingSilence

- “As one of the guys who has been here from the start, I can say I am quite lucky to have joined up with such a great group of original authors – and I’m amazed at Anthony’s eye for talent and vision for the site. One measure for success, often used when discussing college education, is if the graduating class would not have been accepted with their same qualifications after the bar has been raised for four years – the college is doing EXTREMELY well. That is, the reputation, the talent, the demand – all better than it was when started. Survived the initial excitement. In a roundabout way, I’m trying to say THANK YOU to all the readers for making the site what it is, for engaging with us personally in the comments and forums, and for helping to guide the site in new and interesting directions. This is not a RUMOR – we have some really exciting things coming your way! Thanks so much to everyone behind the scenes and behind the screens.”

Justin Goddard

- “I myself began reading this site when it was still in its infancy and known only as Sev1512.wordpress.com; how much it has changed. Not even a year old and the site has already hit the big 2 million mark. I’m honored to be part of PSLS and even more by everybody who has stuck around through everything. PSLS has created such a great community, and I thank all of you for making the PSLS community and site what it is today.”

Adam Wolfe

- “I am glad to be a part of a great site with such great people. I am still relatively new here, but it feels like I’ve been here forever. Thank you to all the readers and here’s to hoping for a great future.”

Paulmichael Contreras

- “Well, I’m honored to be a part of such a close community and am gracious for the opportunity to expand my horizons and write meaningful articles that I can see our readers appreciate. I can’t wait to see what the future holds and hope to be there with everyone!”

    Ladies and Gentleman,
I wish you all Congratulations on your very important, and highly impressive milestone of hitting the 2 Million mark in just under a year! This is truly a great day for each and every one of you who have supported the Playstation Lifestyle from it’s infancy up to the present day.
Not even a full year has passed, and each and every one of you deserve a long round of applause for getting this web site to where it is today. Each of you has supported this site in varying areas and degrees, but in doing so, you were all showing and expressing your love of the Playstation Lifestyle with all of your your hard work, contributions and selfless dedication which has brought this site to a very honorable mark in your short history.
The name “Playstation Lifestyle” is significant because it delivers and encompasses’s ALL areas of the Playstation Family Network. The name itself, “Playstation Lifestyle” upon hearing it, instantly broadens ones awareness, and horizons that spans over a Decade of Global Domination.
I am proud to say that I live the Playstation Lifestyle, and I couldn’t be more proud to say I am and will forever be.
So I again say to you, Congratulations on reaching this impressive mark of 2 million views. You have reached this plateau all because each one of you, has done your job with honor, pride and excellance and I applaud each of you for wanting to give myself, and others the best possible coverage of the Playstation Lifestyle

  12. congratulations on such a milestone in such a short space of time. Its wonderful to see such dedication, the team have certainly put together a joyful read. I especially enjoyed the exclusives and opinion pieces in the past 11 months. Keep up the great work

I would like to thank all of you very much for your hard work over the past year or so. I have been a reader of the blog right since the beggining, but I have only started leaving comments latley. This blog has improved so much over the past eleven months, and it is know my only source for PlayStation related news. Before, I had four or five blogs about the PlayStation brand bookmarked, but the only one I have now is PlayStation LifeStyle, because I know I can rely on you guys to bring me the latest news as soon as it comes out. So, once again, thank you very much for your hard work and I am sure the blog, as well as the forum, will continue to grow and grow.

Good job, guys! Love the site. Keep up the good work.

  16. 5 million is just around the corner. I remember seeing a post by StalkingSilence about this website back in July or August, thought i’d check it out, and have been coming here everyday since. Keep it coming guys.

  17. Congratulations on reaching the milestone. Looking back on how things have changed since I have been visiting tthis site it is hard to imagine anything but great things for you guys in the future. I am looking forward to seeing how things develope over the next 2Mil views.

  18. Thanks everyone. You are too kind.

  19. Congrats guys, you’re all a great comunity and Im sure that with the upcoming redesign you will only continue to be successful. :)

  20. While I’ve only been frequenting PlayStation LifeStyle since around November, it has always been a wealth of gaming information, which is convenient and professional. It was so good to be able to tell my barracks roommate of all the great things ahead for the PS3, while he squandered over XBox Live Subscriptions. It only solidified how great of a source PlayStation Lifestyle is. Congratulations on reaching such an important milestone so early in the site’s career; it only means that someone is doing something right!!

  21. Just a quick note to say congrats, truly a great accomplishment. Keep up the great work guys.

  22. @Morgus,
Glad I brought you over here (I assume from the Playstation.com forums?) – I love it over there still and would encourage you guys to join our forums, we’re not as strict as those mods ;)
I’m going to try to step up my rumored content game in the coming months – to bring you what I used to bring when I started on the site (tough though, since Sony has stepped up efforts themselves!)

    @Christian Young,
Nice to see we have reached out to our military (what branch?) readers as well.

  23. Traxxer911 Says:

    Congratulations guys,

I too was here back when you folks used to inform us about insider secrets. I still remember eagerly awaiting the news about the new exclusive game from Rockstar Games. Although it was a disappointment not to hear what it was, I’m glad you guys did the honorable thing to avoid any damage being done to the industry.

I look forward to the new web design!

  24. Wow, I come back the next day and there’s all kinds of comments. Thank you everyone! I still have space on my PSN friends list, so please feel free to add me: T3mpr1x . As Jaxx stated, I cannot wait to see what the next 2 million views brings us!

  25. Eddie "Haskell420" Says:

    @ John,
While my thanks to you seem gracious, it is more than that. It is honest as is each one of my fellow posters here down below me. For you to acknowledge myself, I will say, Thank you. But as you can see from everyone else who has posted, these thank you’s are well earned, and even more so deserved. I have been reading this, I hate the word “blog”, for about 8 months or so.
One of the main reasons I like this site is because of, I don’t want to say, it’s small, but it seems while many do read this, it is not really well known, or visited every hour or so to see what has been posted. And I like that, a lot. I love the setup it has, and how it’s laid out. It is different then others with how it is laid out, the topics rigth dab in the middle, the black background, the grey on each side of it, and even the orange lettering, lol.
And while I left a comment here and their, it was not day in and day out. Not because I never had anything to say, or to write about by no means. One reason is because I have been involved in many Beta tests this past year. Since June, I have been asked and chosen to be a part in 5 Beta Tests in 2008. Starting with early summer with Motorstorm, then SOCOM:Confrontation, at the end of August was invited into Little Big Planet, and HOME, and finally Resistance 2 which ended in Ocober. It started with my PS2, and over the years the invites increased to where I have been in 19 PS2 Beta’s.
When I got my PS3 a couple of years ago, I was again asked to partake in the PS3 Beta Tests and including the 5 I mentioned above, that now makes 12 all together. And I love it. I take it very seriously and do my damndest to do all I can and find problems areas, to give my input and feedback, to suggest idea’s and why they would, or could work, and why somethings wouldn’t work. Some of my friends, or the people on the forums would say, or ask, why am I still playing this, when you finished it a week ago. There’s nothing else to do?
While they would ask that, I would tell them why. Because SONY selected ME for a reason, be it a drawing or whatever. And it was an honor to be chosen for it out of the hundreds of thousands of others and i’ll be damned if I will play it for 2 days, then drop it and play something else. They chose me to test this game out, and to let them know what problems I saw, or found, what was working or not, what needed improving, or be taken away. It was up to myself, and everyone else who was picked to do all that we can and let them know what issues arose during the gameplay. We do that so they can make the best game possible, for US.
Now if they send out a game that hasn’t been tested, and their are loads of problems with it, the backlash is in the hundreds of thousands, and very bad business. Then comes the questions: How could you release this when their are so many problems with the frame rate issues, with all these glitches, bad AI and on and on. It was up to US to find these problems, let them know, so they can fix them before mass release to the public. I have always taken a lot of pride in my work, that’s how I was raised, to bust my ass and get the job done right, period.
Now while some ideas might get washed, some more then likely have been taken into consideration. And while I take no credit for this game adding my idea and so forth. I do know that if an idea does get serious thought, it is because other testers like myself have more then likely suggested the same thing.
Now the reason I have all this time to be in these Beta’s, I have to give you a little info on myself. I am 36 and live here on Long Island. I have been out of work since 9/11/01 when I was in a construction accident where I was working on a roof, and because of the pitch of the roof was not up to code for safety regulations, the proper safety equipment was not given, and so when my feet slipped out from under me, I slid down, then went right off the edge and fell 24 ft to the ground, practically landing feet first. I thankfully did not die, or get paralyzed, but it still left me with enough injuries that I am still dealing with to this day to my back, and to my left knee and left ankle/foot and I am still not working. So except for going to physical therapy 3 times a week for a couple of hours, I am home in bed playing games, or watching some TV.
Now the reason I brought this up, is because I did not want you to think I was a flash in the pan so to speak, or a newbie poster who just came in to say good job, or say nothing at all. I can only sit in a chair for so long before the pain in my lower back kicks in, and even then I am reluctant to get up and go lay down. So I basically sit here and suck it up so to speak and go to the sites I am a part of where I can give them my ideas on games or modes, and the detailed explanations and reasons on what I came up with, and why/how it would work, or wouldn’t work, etc.
So I do all that I can and if it means me sitting here for longer then I should, so be it.
Now their are many web sites I am a part of, and where I try to be a regular poster, like the PAIN video game web site, which is done by Travis Williams and Jason Coker, the creators of the game. I’ve been an active participant since it’s inception in Nov of 2007, and since then I’ve given many hundreds of detailed ideas for certain game content and game modes that would be great too see. Some get acknowledged, and some even get printed out and they see if it’s possible to do so.
With your site here, this is thee 1st site I go to to get my Playstation news and I have it loaded in so when I open IE, it comes up 1st. Then I go to areas like the PS Blogs, Gamespot, and so on. Because, and I am a firm believer of this:

“The more one knows, the more one can contribute”

I wish I could do so much more, I really do. I have always been highly creative, and being a gamer since my 1st Atari 2600, it kills me that I can only do so much or only contribute so much to certain areas. If an idea comes up where it tweaks something that is already in place or even if it’s new ideas, which could be good or bad, smart or stupid, possible or impossible to some, when it comes to mind, I figure the rest out, and send it in.
When I am done I sit here and think, Ok, great, now what?.. What’s next. LOL. Ok, let’s go lay down and get back to playing games on my PS3. With your site, the news you post, or even break contribute to everyone of us in a certain or various ways. I am thankful that there are sites like this because it is dedicated to the Playstation, and as I said in my 1st comment yesterday, I LOVE that name: The Playstation Lifestyle and I am a proud member of it!
Keep up the great work and 2009 is gonna be exciting for ALL of us!

    @ John
Thank you sir for your kind words. And I am not signed up, but I am doing so as soon as I finish writing this to you. I must say it is quite impressive how I can come on here, and see news worthy items posted, and when I go to the other sites, see that it’s not. That is another way it shows each of yours dedication to the “Playstation Lifestyle”.

    See you on the boards!!

  34. OldBloodAndGuts Says:

I’m not at all surprised to see the 2m mark. I’ve been reading this blog since it’s inception on day one. I remember reading about the 500k mark and have since been anticipating seeing when the million hit mark would be reached, but this is far better and much more satisfying to see. PSLS has the reliable and accurate information us gamers are interested in and it’s no surprise you guys have reached this massive milestone.

So to the staff of PSLS: Keep the information rolling and continue doing just what you’re doing. Good job and congratulations!

  35. Congratulations!!!!
